Señor Lawhead's class sings the well-known song of the Mexican Revolution "La Cucaracha". Along with singing, students learned a bit about Mexican history and who "La Cucaracha" was.

Vocabulary Quizzes y Mejores Amigos Collages
Señora Trott's classes have
just completed their first vocabulary quizzes. In addition, Spanish 1-2
students are preparing their first oral presentations this week. They will have
a short conversation with another student in front of the class. The project is
called Hola, ¿Cómo estas?
Spanish 3-4 students are also
preparing a collage of pictures that depict their best friend or a special
family member. Using only this visual clue, students will describe this person
to the rest of the class.
"Tu" Command Skits
Students in Spanish 3-4 with Profe Bañuelos this week created and performed
their own skits in which they used affrimative "tú" commands to give orders to
another person. This group here played characters from the cartoon Spongebob
Squarepants. The characters featured were Spongbob, Patrick, Squidword, and Mr.
Crab.

Madame Leidhoff's students of French 5-6 presented themselves discussing
their cultural origins, memories of their childhood, current interests and
passions, and what they hope to achieve in the future….
Students of French 2-3 will read Un Conte de
Madagascar, Ventre-Rond. (Round Stomac)
French Language and Culture Advanced Placement is
taking an older exam to practice for the test in May.
Remember! Madame Leidhoff is in her room every day at
lunch to tutor or drill for the AP exam.
Poesía, Repaso y Ensayo - Busy start to year!
Students in Dr. Jacobson's Spanish AP classes watched the video 'Jovenes
discapacitados se reunen a disfrutar de poesías' following up the
activity with a class discussion regarding the personal and intercultural
advantages of self-expression through poetry. Spanish 7-8 students reviewed the imperfect tense together through descriptions of childhood experiences.
Spanish 5-6 students are using text information to write an essay comparing and contrasting the United States and Argentina.

Miss Lilian Chen joins World Languages!
Miss Lilian Chen has joined World Languages teaching five classes of Spanish 1-2 in Room 255. She is lately from Irvine, CA where her family lives. Born in a bilingual household, Miss Chen's native language is Spanish and her credential allows her to teach English as well. This weekend, Miss Chen is in Yosemite on her very first backpacking trip! Welcome, Miss Chen!

French Classes Begin New Year!
Madame Leidhoff's students of French 1-2 learned verbs using TPR/S and played Jacques a
dit. This is the French version of Simon Says. They also learned the
culture of salutation in France.
Students of French 3-4 learned of Paris and its structure of
arrondissements. They are gearing up for a cultural project on the
monuments of Paris.Students of the advanced class read Gascony Siempe's Le petit Nicolas, Le Chouette bouquet, and represented it.
