Students return to school on Tuesday, September 3!  Many World Languages teachers are already preparing for the new school year with professional development training and checking out their classrooms.  Teachers will officially report on August 28 and begin the necessary preparations for student arrival.

Scripps Ranch World Languages Department wishes all of its students a wonderful summer!  Whether you are continuing to the next level, graduating or are an incoming Freshman next year, know that the teachers of this department love working with students and will be ready and excited to teach again in September.  Enjoy your summer!

Ms. Ranzolin traveling to Peru!

It has been an amazing year for Ms. Ranzolin. She would like to thank all her students for working so hard and for being so caring. This summer, Ms. Ranzolin plans on traveling to Peru through a scholarship program for educators.  She hopes to learn a lot about the culture and people of Peru to share with her students. Also, Ms. Ranzolin will be travellng to the Riviera Maya with her family. Additionally, Ms. Ranzolin plans on working on updating her curriculum plans for next year.

Dr. Jacobson has a busy summer!

Dr. Jacobson will attend a week-long 'AP By The Sea' Spanish language and culture course at USD, sponsored by The College Board.  In addition, she will be working with SDSU's 31st Annual Reading Conference directors Drs. Lapp, Frey and Fisher, focusing on implementing, recognizing and assessing Common Core Standards throughout the curriculum.  In addition, Dr. Jacobson will work on an article 'Common Core Standards in Foreign Languages: Interpreting Meaning through Fictional and Informational Text.'  Additionally, she will be tutoring students throughout the Summer

Profe va a Brasil...¡y más!

As finals week closes, Profe Bañuelos would like to thank his students and colleagues for another successful school year at Scripps Ranch High School.  Profe loves being a teacher at Scripps Ranch!  For the summer Profe plans to attend six international soccer matches in Brazil for the FIFA Confederations Cup, then spend the remaining of the summer in Colombia, Perú, and possibly Venezuela.

Madame Leidhoff visiting the northwest and the southeast.


Madame Leidhoff will be traveling in Oregon, Washington State and Florida visiting state parks and family.

Señora Trott travels to London and Spain!

Señora Trott is looking forward to an excitiing summer of travel. 
She will visit London with her family then continue on to Spain with her daughter. In Spain, they will visit Madrid, Toledo and Valencia.  Previously, Señora Trott visited Sevilla, Granada, Cordoba and Salamanca.

Finals Week Has Begun!



It's Finals Week and the students of the World Languages Department are busy studying for and taking their exams.  Here is Señor Lawhead's period 6 Spanish 5-6 class during their final exam.  By the way... the class average was 82%.  Very good!

Students Earn High Scores on Entrevista Project!

29 students in Señor Lawhead's Spanish 5-6 classes earned a certificate and a place of honor on the wall of "Estrellas" for earning A's in every component of last month's Entrevista de Empleo project.  The work of these is students is commendable and they deserve high praise!

Japanese Students Produce Autobiographies

Mr. Blackwelder's students put the finishing touches on their autobiographies before finals week, demonstrating their mastery of the language and writing that they have learned all year.
