School Begins! World Languages Sees Some Changes!

WELCOME!
BienvenidosBienvenu  Hajimemashita

The 2013-2014 year has begun and the upper 200 building reverberates with the sounds of Japanese, French, Spanish and the quiet of American Sign Language. World Languages is as sad to say farewell to the remarkable Ms. Andrea Lemaitre as it is delighted to welcome Miss Lilian Chen who comes to us from Irvine, CA. to teach five sections of Spanish 1-2! The beginning of this year has been fraught with challenges from surviving the heat and staffing the increase in Spanish courses to making the implementation of the new student-accounting program, Power School, work.  We are hoping that parents and students will have on-line access to grades soon and that teachers can stay ahead of the learning curve to make them available.  Good news is that classes are capped at 36 students maximum and that means better efficiency and more contact between students and their teachers.  Also, this year (we are told) the installation of Promethean Boards will finally begin for our department.  Measurements were taken last year and it is projected that the boards will be installed in the Spring.

Welcome students and parents to the new school year!  The World Languages Department is looking forward to sharing its love of worldwide languages in a learning partnership with all of you.
