Señora Trott's Spanish 3-4 classes are narrating the story of their lives using a timeline and the preterite and imperfect tenses for Benchmark #4: La línea cronológica de mi vida. Using only photographs, students will talk for one to two minutes about five important events in their life starting from their earliest memory.

AP tests are over! McVeigh's students working on final projects.
After working hard to complete the Language Exam, Mr. McVeigh's AP students are designing unique final projects based on their own interests. On Friday, they will also have a chance to create an original poem in class based on Jorge Luis Borges' "Instantes."
Spanish 5-6 constructs "Fantasy Scrapbooks"
Mr. Lawhead's Spanish 5-6 students continue with the fun part of their fantasy autobiographies and scrapbooks. They are choosing pictures, drawings and realia to illustrate a scrapbook of the life/future they imagine.
Advanced French students study wedding traditions
Madame Leidhoff's advanced French students are learning about societal cultural differences dealing with the institution of marriage. They are preparing a "wedding" for the end of the year. Each student in class is assigned a family or organizational role associated with the event.
Spanish 3-4 presents on Latinoamérica
Mr. Stanko's Spanish 3-4 classes have just finished their cultural presentations on different Latin American countries. They enjoyed food, movie reviews and even some artwork from various Spanish speaking countries!
Spanish 1-2 work on Places Project
Students in Dr. Jacobson's Spanish 1-2 class are working on developing a presentation where each student describes 5 places, including the activities available, the weather during each season and how one can get to each place. The presentations will include pictures of one identified place with captions describing each photo.

ASL students show competency in skits
Mrs. Redelings' ASL 2 students are putting their language skills to work in fun and creative skits. In these skits, students apply the vocabulary and grammar that they have learned over the past year and also show just how imaginative and talented they are. Go ASL 2 students! :)

Ricitos de Oro (Goldlilocks) presented to preschoolers!
Dr. Jacobson's students presented a 'reader's theatre' dual language production of Goldilocks and the Three Bears/Ricitos de Oro y Los Tres Osos to Mrs. Hillman's preschool students. Students also used the Spanish translation of the story to enhance reading comprehension through question/answer response activities.
Fantasy Scrap Books Project in Spanish 5-6
Señor Lawhead's Spanish 5-6 classes are working on chronicling a fantasy life with an autobiography and compiling a photo album/scrapbook. They can choose to be anything that their imaginations can envision. Students don't even have to be human! The project reinforces the major gramatical units of the year: Imperfect vs. Preterite, Perfect Tenses and Subjunctive. It's also a fun activity to close out the year!

Pétanque!
French students in Madame Leidhoff's and Madame Frederickson's classes recently learned about "boules," a kind of lawn bowling widely-played in the south of France. The lesson culminated in a 3-day championship with a team from each class competing. In the final match, the French 3-4 girls won, with the French 5-6 boys as runners-up.
Japanese Currency and Food!
Mr. Blackwelder's Japanese 1-2 classes are learning about Japanese currency, conversion rates, and how to order food at a fast food restaurant. Have you ever thought about why it's a common situation for a person to be walking around with over $300 in cash in their wallet or purse in Japan?
